As promised in my previous blog post, the new GPS Tools v3.5 is released with the much needed and most useful features. Here are the features at glance.

1. Full rewrite of front-end and back-end with Joomla 3 support
2. No need to have GPX/KML files. Users can directly draw tracks on maps and app will create gpx tracks for you.
3. Improved load time by caching all javascript code generated to the files. Now pages loads faster by upto 80% for second requests.
4. Zoom and detailed view support for elevation/speed/hr charts
5. Chart and map tracker support - move mouse over the chart to see where the point located on map
6. More track statistics
7. Tagging support - Now add tags to your tracks instead of just the categories
8. Categories list on main page is back with polished look
9. New advanced search page fore more user friendly search
10. New toolbar with new listing types shortcuts (most downloaded tracks)
11. Email subscriptions of new tracks (category and global).
12. My Tracks and My Subscriptions pages
13. Slick sharing tools
14. Spam track reporting feature

GPS tools is one of the most successful extension in our portfolio as well as the most rated one (rated 5 out of 5 on Joomla Extension Directory) and we are exited to go forward with our upcoming release v3.5. I do not want to waste your time anymore and put the road map of the upcoming release here.

• Since Joomla 3 is released, the major buzz word you hear is Bootstrap. If you do not know about this, probably you are outdated ;) .just kidding.. it is the framwork of choice of community for the UI. The simplicity, beatiful components, powerful framework makes it good choice to thousands of people all over the world. By the way, it came from the good people at Twitter. 
  
  So GPS Tools will be based on Bootstrap for both forward and backward compatibility with Joomla 2.5 and above versions. And obviously it is compatible with j3. 
• Fully responsive. Yes finally you can just browse GPS Tools on your mobile devide with same level of power and features.
• Create tracks right inside the component instead of just uploading gpx files. We are still working on it but are hopeful of getting it done asap.
• Tagging support. You can simply tag tracks with one or more tags and browse them by tag. No more worries of one-one assignment of categories and tracks. Yes, you still have categories though.
• Email subscriptions. Users can subscrive and manage their subscriptions for new track notifications.
• Like/dislike buttons for ratings
• Many more new features are awaiting your hands on.

• Display GPS tracks (routes) : Each GPS Tools entry can contains an associated route. Geocode Factory display this route on the map. You have 3 options to display this route : when the associate marker is left-clicked, right-clicked, when the mouse fly over the marker, and additionaly you can select to not display the route.

• Zoom on track : At the moment the route / track is displayed (as example when you click a GPS Tools marker), you can set an option that automaticaly zoom over the whole track.
