We are pleased to announce Crosswords v3.5.0 release. This is a full rewrite of the component and has some significant changes that may affect your installation if you are upgrading from the previous version. One of such change is change in points system. You need to install the points rules again if you are using any points system as we have migrated to a unified API to award points using different points systems.

The backend is fully rewritten with some standard Joomla functions added to the listing pages on backend. We have added some new features along with fixes for many reported bugs. Please see change log for brief overview of what are all done in this release.

Please do not update CjLib latest version if you are still using PHP 5.2. This release works with earlier version (v2.0.x) of CjLib component too.

We would like to let you know that the minimum required PHP version will be 5.3 for all our extensions starting November 2014. Since the PHP 5.2 EOL is already past 3 years, it is now time to move on and catch up the latest version. Since Joomla 3.x requires PHP 5.3.10 or above, you are already on right path if you are using Joomla 3.x. If you are still on Joomla 2.5x, you can upgrade to PHP 5.3 before upgrading any of our extensions.

As a first step, we have enforced PHP 5.3 as minimum requirement for CjLib 2.1.0. If you have not yet updated your PHP, it is recommended to continue using CjLib 2.0.x version till the time you upgrade your PHP. All other extensions will continue to work with PHP 5.2 till October 2014 and any future updates after this time will no longer supports PHP 5.2.

We request you to upgrade your PHP version as soon as possible because older versions may expose your sites to security vulnerabilities and bugs that have been fixed latest versions of PHP.
