What do you mean by hidden categories? Categories which are not accessible to the users via permissions? -

Well, the problem with the search plugin is that it will also give results for hidden forum categories (while the forum search bar doesn't). Is that to be expected? -

Search content option will enable searching description of the topic, otherwise only titles will be searched. Enabling plugin is enough to search topics with Joomla search... -

My bad. I sent you the plugin, please install it and you can search topics within Joomla core search function. -

I think I fixed it. I disabled the CJForum Authentication Plugin and it started working. -

When you enable search plugin, joomla search module can search forum posts as well. Check search functionality on this page. -

That is not my experience. The search function of Joomla doesn't search in forum posts, and the search function of CjForum only search in the forum posts. I don't have a... -

Go to Extensions -> Plugins -> Filter cjforumapps plugins and disable all plugins for which you do not have respective extensions installed. -
