Restrict author info below article - this is a debatable topic whether to display or not display using same ACL. What would be easiest I think is to not remove the author info box, but just not display the text in it (like when having no text in this field). This is an example of one of bloggers who left the author field empty:

Correct. Restrict user profile display, restrict display of author info below article. So giving a paying blogger some value for money (as in extra exposure possibilities) Any ideas are welcome :)

Hi, currently we have 50+ bloggers on our community website. We use CJBlog as the default blogcomponent and really love it. We are currently looking at differentiating our bloggers: bloggers who contribute to our commnity by sharing their knowledge and experience in a blog and bloggers who do the same but are also actively using our platform to promote themselves and generate business. What we want to do is have the second category of bloggers pay for using our platform as a jumping board for their own business. We need to be able to differentiatie between the two bloggers and though of the following use case: free blogger: will get joomla author rights and will be able to blog as he/she is currently doing. Limitation is that in the blog for them no author info will be displayed and their names will not be linked to their blog profiles. paying bloggers: will be added to an additional group. They will get the functionality as it is currently > names linked in the article to their profile, profile page and possibility to use the author information field under the blog (where they can advertise their business as much as they want :)). membership to the group can be handled by any of the membership components (or manually via the back-end) I think that this addition would make sence for more users of cjblog (especially those running a community / blog site where others can contribute). This change would help them to possibly make some money :) I am looking at doing some changes for this in cjblog but was curious if maybe there is already some work on this in e.g. future versions, or if there are any other thoughs on how to add additional value to the paying bloggers.   Looking forward to your thoughts :) regards, Ruud.

Hi, the basics should be migrated (tekst, format, image, category, title, etc.) Whats not in Joomla (functional) cannot be migrated :)   I sent you the DB structure per mail. I think that if we could 'automate' this it will be usefull for more people :)

Can you send me EasyBlog database structure so that I can check if this is possible. And remember you will loose some fine grained details when you are migrating from one system to other system. For example any features supported by EasyBlog which are not in Joomla articles, urls etc.

    November 17 at 8:30 am

Hi, I am looking at migrating a Joomla site because they want the same awesome user experience I have with my sites. The site is using Easyblog and has 1200+ articles. Easyblog has a feature to import joomla articles, but no export function of these articles. What would be the best way (with the least amount of work) to transfer the Easyblog articles over to Joomla articles so we can use CJBlog?   Any tips are welcome :)

  • Ruud van Lent created new topic cjblog featured articles view?.

    October 15 at 3:06 pm

Hi, one thing missing in cjblog is the featured articles view. I use this view on my websites frontpage, currently the Joomla menu entry so not visual the same as the cjblog article / category menu entries. If I want to create this featured view, what would be the best place to do so? make it part of the article view, add a featured only setting? Or in the category view, of a completely new featured view? Or perhaps this is already on somebodies todo list, would even be better :) Any tips are welcome :)

Maverick wrote: That looks awesome to me as well. With over just 10KB it does what we need, although limited functionality. But its better than loading heavy script, will integrate this in my next release. Hi Maverick, if you are referencing jsSocials, I already built it into cjblog: in my own 'clucnky-way' probably :), but I can sent you the changed files... Would at least save you some work :)

I am using http://www.xadomir.de/webentwicklung/cms/joomla/plugins/18-myshariff-en.html Plugin + Module with better privacy for your users! Hi Andreas, that one looks good! One downside for me is that it is 'to complicated' as it is a combination of scripts and plugins: that then also needs to be maintained. jsSocials is as simple as it gets. Furthermore it is easily extendable with every social media channel, so there are almost no limits as to what you can share on: see here for more information > http://js-socials.com/docs/#custom-share I have some users asking for whatsapp (when browsing our site via their mobile), will have a quick look to see if that can be integrated...

  • Ruud van Lent created new topic Social Sharing button in CJBlog holding us back....

    September 29 at 9:10 am

Hi, I love tha fact that CJBlog has integrated social sharing buttons, but although we did a quick-fix to start them synchoniously, they are still a huge cause of people abandaning my site earlier. This has nothing to do with CJBlog but with the sharethis script... There are two problems with it: It is to slow (which we partly fixed with the sync setting) it deforms temporarily the website because when it starts to load the facebook button it streched the containing div to the max size needed for the facebook comment field), to shortly after shrink it again. The first is bad for my pagespeed > and therefore SEO! the second is bad because it makes it almost impossible to read a blog without starting over again because the blog text shifts down and up again.   So... I found this (which is going to be used by the Kunena team): http://js-socials.com/   This looks awesome! and is fully configurable via css etc.   I am willing to replace the current sharethis code in CJBlog with this code and do the configuration of the buttons via the cjblog config screen... But for me it is important that these changes get adopted as part of the main release, otherwise with every new release I have to redo and test everything over and over again :)   So (Maverick), what do you think?

  • Ruud van Lent replied to the topic CJ user points in Acymailing.

    September 24 at 7:06 am

It is awesome, I helped them out with the avatar and about text as that was pulled from the database instead of via the api: so my easyprofile (and all other avatar integrations) now work as well :) What would be really awesome is that an email is triggered when a certain badge is assigned: e.g. when somebody has x blogs and is granted the 'top-blogger' badge, an email whould be sent (via acymailing) that would congratulate him/her an that achievement. Acymailing has an integrated possibility to e.g. override the joomla system emails. So having a functionality like that would be really great. Not sure how to do it as I am not a developer :)

Hi, just to inform you. The acymailing plugin I created to display CJ user points in a newsletter has been 'picked up' by the development team of acymailing. The new plugin can do a whole lot more :) see screen capture. It is available from their website: https://www.acyba.com/download-area/download/plugin-cjblog.html

    August 30 at 8:57 am

Hi, with the latest change in cjblog where the social sharing buttons are loaded asynch, it is now also possible to have the buttons on multiple locations displayed together. Currently cjblog lets you add the social sharing button either on the TOP or BOTTOM position.\ This change adds a BOTH location (displaying both on top and on bottom) Would be nice if this change could be part of the release :) you can see it in action here: https://www.lerendeleiders.nl/jezelfleiden/399-mijn-leiderschap-kantelmoment Hope this helps :) regards, Ruud. ------------- changes file administrator/components/com_cjblog/config.xml add yellow code                 <field name="sharing_buttons_position" type="radio" class="btn-group" label="COM_CJBLOG_SHARING_POSITION_LABEL" ...                        <option value="top">COM_CJBLOG_TOP</option>                        <option value="bottom">COM_CJBLOG_BOTTOM</option>                        <option value="both">COM_CJBLOG_BOTH</option>                </field> file administrator/language/en-GB/en-GB.com_cjblog.ini add yellow code COM_CJBLOG_BOTTOM="Bottom"COM_CJBLOG_TOP="Top"COM_CJBLOG_BOTH="Both"COM_CJBLOG_ENABLE_SOCIAL_SHARING_LABEL="Enable Social Sharing" file plugins/content/cjblog/cjblog.php replace '.($sharing_position == 'top' ?
