Are you referring to the categories in the listing page? You need to modify the layout page components/com_communityanswers/layouts/default(or bs3)/category_list.php -

You are trying to combine two different questions, radio and checkbox. Solution is either 1) Use radio type question which allows you to select any of the 3 answers -
