Image links are broken in survey

I've added images in the article description of the survey question, and they show up just fine. I can even link directly to an image with full url on individual browser tab, but then when I click save and close and view the survey on the front end, there are no images, just broken image icons. Please help. What am I doing wrong? Is there a simple setting to change?
