Activity Stream - safe to disable?

Docs are a little vague on how this works ( lots of detail about the API, but I couldnt find a simple description of the module.).

We don't plan on using an "Activity Stream" so can I assume it will not break any other Cjforum functionality if I disable all of its options in the plugin
